    Indonesia figures 321 fatalities and eleven missing from the earthquake

    The Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has updated the death toll from last Monday’s earthquake to 321 fatalities, after recovering the bodies of three people on Sunday.

    “Three bodies were found today, according to our records, finding these three victims brings the total number to 321 dead,” BNPB chief Abdul Muhari told a news conference.

    In this sense, the number of disappeared, which until now was 14 people, has been reduced to eleven.

    The agency estimates a total of 73,874 displaced persons, since 62,628 homes have been damaged, either totally or partially, as a result of the earthquake.

    “Regarding distribution logistics, it improves every day. As for the tents, little by little we will incorporate assistance and distribution personnel,” explained the person in charge of BNPB.

    The quake struck on Monday at 1:21 p.m. (local time), with its epicenter 10 kilometers south of Cianjur, according to the Indonesian National Meteorological, Geophysical and Climatological Agency (BMKG), which ruled out the risk of a tsunami. For its part, the BNPB confirmed that the quake had shaken the capital, Jakarta.
