Google Chrome will end support for Windows 7 and 8.1 in February 2023

Google will end on support for Windows 7 and 8.1 with the update of its Chrome browser scheduled for February of next year, although the previous versions will continue to work on both operating systems.

Microsoft will end support for Windows 7 and 8.1 on February 10. Both systems are currently included in the extended security update program from the company and once it ends, they will stop receiving updates and technical support.

Google plans to launch Chrome 110 on a date close to the end of support for Windows 7 and 8.1, which means that with the update of the browser, it will only be compatible with Windows 10 or later.

The Mountain View company clarifies on its Help page that the old versions of Chrome will continue to work on the two Microsoft systems, but insists that “no more updates will be released for users of these operating systems.
