Activists from the exile organization Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) have demanded this Monday from the Cuban government a proof of life of the leader of the organization Jose Daniel Ferrer Garcia, of whom there has been no news for almost 50 days.
Through a video, several activist members of the organization have expressed “a visible concern” for the fate of Ferrer, an opponent who apparently would be confined in the Mar Verde prison, in the province of Santiago de Cuba.
“They do not allow him phone calls, nor the last of his family visits, which corresponded to him on August 26,” UNPACU said in a statement.
“After 47 days without knowing anything about him, not even his voice, opposition activists in Baracoa demand from the Havana regime a life certificate for Jose Daniel Ferrer”, UNPACU has expressed in the letter.
Ferrer is considered by many to be one of the most visible leaders of the Cuban opposition, according to the organization, since he is the national coordinator of UNPACU, the organization with the largest membership and one of those with the greatest organizational power of the resistance. Cuban.
The opponent is part of the prisoners of the ‘Primavera de Negra de Cuba’, when the communist regime attacked more than 80 opponents and members of civil society.
