The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, spoke this Wednesday in the Economic Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP), which analyzed the State Budgets in 2021, and denounced “the economic suffocation of the United States ” through the blockade to the island.

“There are those who say that the blockade is a pretext of the Government, however, why does the US Administration maintain and intensify that absurd policy? The only explanation is that they fear a socialist construction without a blockade in Cuba,” the president stressed. Cuban, as reported by ‘Cubadebate’.

Likewise, he has pointed out that “economic suffocation” has caused shortages of food and medicines, as well as the impossibility of accessing raw materials necessary for fundamental national productions.

In this sense, it has raised the need to achieve a robust local production system, which allows strengthening the local development strategy in each territory. “We are not going to develop the country if we want to apply the same things in all places, because each territory has particularities that must be taken into account,” he indicated.

In his opinion, it is essential to reduce the administrative and bureaucratic apparatus, and for companies to subordinate themselves and make their greatest contributions to the municipalities where they are located.

“We must act more at the base. We have to ensure that the Ministry of Finance and Prices (…) controls the budget but also the price, which can be done with popular control,” added the Cuban president. .

“In different ways, the entertainment industry and social networks are seeking to make peoples deny their identity, to see their culture as obsolete, in its most universal dimension,” Diaz-Canel stressed, as reported by ‘Granma’ .

In this sense, he has assured that “if the Cuban people have been able to resist it is because they are faithful to their roots, because they have ideas and convictions, because they know how the nation was formed; and because we want to be socialists we have had permanent aggression.”

Thus, he has emphasized that “it is immoral that part of the taxes paid by the American people be used to finance the counterrevolution, the campaigns and plans of aggression against Cuba.”
