The conference of donors of the countries of northern Europe, held in Denmark this Thursday as a sign of support for Ukraine, has managed to raise more than 1,500 million euros for sending military assistance to the country, which is facing the Russian invasion of the territory.

The Danish Defense Minister, Morten Bedskov, has indicated that, “in general, the majority of the participants have agreed to deliver this amount”. “The UK has already started to increase funding for weapons production,” he noted.

Bedskov, who has highlighted that it is a large sum of money, has clarified that the funds will be used throughout this year and in the face of 2023. In addition, he has ventured that there will be more donations.

During the conference held in Copenhagen, the parties discussed the possibility of increasing arms production, especially ammunition and missiles. Thus, Bedskov has thanked Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which have shown their readiness to increase the production of artillery systems and other equipment.

Also, the Northern European countries present at the event held talks on the training of Ukrainian military personnel. In this sense, some countries, such as Denmark, have agreed to offer the corresponding help.

“Ukraine’s fight is our fight. We are with Ukraine. We must meet the needs of its Army and we must not allow Putin to destroy our democracy,” he asserted.

Shortly before, the Danish authorities announced the delivery of another 110 million euros to finance the Ukrainian Army within the framework of the conference in support of kyiv. “Ukrainians pay a high price for Putin’s cruelty every day. We are amazed by his heroism and his resilience. His resilience is invincible, but they cannot be alone in this unequal war,” he explained.
