
The number of Covid-19 infections worldwide has decreased by 89% in the last four weeks, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Wednesday.
“Globally, in the last 28 days (January 23 to February 19) there have been around 5.3 million new cases and more than 48,000 deaths”said the entity.
He added that this means “a decrease of 89% and 62%, respectively, compared to the previous 28 days.”
The director general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said last Wednesday that governments have the necessary tools to end the pandemic this year.
Since March 11, 2020, the WHO has classified Covid-19, a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019, as a pandemic.
As of that moment, more than 674.40 million infections and more than 6.86 million deaths from the disease were registered worldwide, according to the database of the American John Hopkins University.
