In the context of the clashes, the United Nations Independent Investigation Mission in the country has called for a cessation of hostilities, while condemning the use of firearms, as well as the fact that the armed groups have not taken measures to safeguard civilians and their property from the impact of the fighting.
“The mission in Libya is monitoring the development of the situation and is collecting evidence of violations of International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian Law in order to ensure that those responsible for international crimes are brought to justice,” he said, according to a statement from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
