Recently, on February 25, Peanut was found in 2 batches of Orinoco brand erythritol, marketed in 250-gram containers. Specifically, the incidence has been detected in batches Doy-Ery240123 and Doy-Ery 250123, both with an expiration date of 01/31/25.

The product was distributed in the autonomous community of Madrid, although it could have been redistributed to other places. The authorities are verifying that the sweetener has been withdrawn from the market. Allergic people should choose their consumption, while for the rest it is safe.

Almond presence in sugar free chocolate

AESAN detected and warned of the presence of almond in various brands of dark chocolate and milk chocolate —all of them without added sugar—, without the dried fruit appearing on the label. These are various batches and brands in 125 and 300 gram formats. Initially, the incidence was notified by the health authorities of Aragon, and transferred to others.

Presence of hazelnuts in Mercadona cookies

If you buy at Mercadona and you are allergic to hazelnuts, be careful: AESAN reported the presence of undeclared hazelnuts in relief cookies from the Hacendado brand.

The affected product has batch L012256 031000P and best before date 06/2023.

The alert was announced in the Valencian Community, but the product is distributed throughout Spain. The supermarket chain notified the incident and urged its return.

Presence of lactose in gluten-free cookies with chocolate

Another of the AESAN warnings affects Bsan Digestive gluten-free chocolate biscuits from the VIRGINIAS brand (in 140-gram package format). The incident, detected and notified by the authorities of the Community of Madrid, affects batch L2520L9 with an expiration date of 02/20/23.

The rest of the communities are verifying that it has been withdrawn from the market, since the cookies have had national distribution. If you are lactose intolerant, disdain its consumption.

Presence of crustaceans in frozen bolognese lasagna

Be very careful if you are allergic to shellfish: the AESAN reported the detection of crustaceans in a frozen bolognese lasagna that did not include them on the label. The frozen lasagna is from the El Corte Inglés brand and is sold in a 300-gram format (2 units).

The problem affects batch 22179 with a best-before date of 03/28/2024. The company has been in charge of notifying the problem to the authorities.

According to the OCU, the distribution of this product has been carried out through El Corte Inglés Group stores (El Corte Inglés, Supercor, Supercor Expres, and El Corte Inglés Distance Sales), and it has already been withdrawn in the market. If you are allergic to shellfish, return it.

Milk proteins in artisan almond pastes

Another recent food alert is that the one that has to do with the artisan almond pastes of the Productos Blanco brand, which are marketed in a 400-gram format. These have milk protein not specified on the label.

Specifically, it has been detected in batch 22123, whose expiration date is 06/30/23. LThe cookies have been distributed in Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha and Ceuta, and the competent authorities have already been informed of the incident.

Alert for the presence of various allergens in French fries

AESAN has alerted about the presence of milk, soy and wheat not declared on the label in some Lay’s brand baked potato chips to the point of salt, which are sold in 150-gram bags.

These are the affected batches: BV 51501 256, BV 51504 256 and BV 51501 257, all of them with a best before date of 02/04/2023.

The contamination was reported from Belgium. In Spain, The chips have been distributed to Andalusia, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia and the Basque Country.

If you are not sensitive to these allergens, you can consume them without problem.

Milk proteins in popcorn with salt

On September 12, AESAN warned of the existence of milk proteins in a salty snack of the DIA brand, and was detected in a manufacturer’s self-monitoring process. Specifically, in the salted popcorn SNACK MANIAC! of the DAY brand, sold in bags of 80 grams.

The alert splashes lot 22213 with a best-before date of 01/31/2023. The snack has been distributed in Andalusia, Aragon, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid and the Valencian Community.

Presence of gluten in mislabeled meat product

One of the most recent food alerts happened last summer: it was on August 4, when AESAN notified about the presence of gluten in a meat product labeled “gluten-free”. It is the Cordón Blue Extra marketed by Mercadona, and from the JC JUCARNE brand.

It is a refrigerated product presented in plastic trays: The incident, which only occurred in the Canary Islands, occurred in lot 220730 with an expiration date of 08/08/2022. At that time, people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance were advised not to eat this meat item.
