The Government of Brazil has confirmed that the country’s president, Jair Bolsonaro, will attend the state funeral of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, scheduled for September 19.
“The invitation to the ceremony was delivered on Saturday night to the Brazilian Embassy in London,” the Foreign Ministry said. “Consulted on Sunday morning, the President of the Republic ordered Itamaraty to respond positively to the invitation,” he said, according to the newspaper ‘O Globo’.
Bolsonaro thus joins other world leaders who have confirmed their presence, including the president of the United States, Joe Biden, the Japanese emperor, Akihito, or the president of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol. Elizabeth II passed away last Thursday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
