MADRID, September 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, has urged the Foreign Minister of Iran, Hosein Amirabdolahian, to end military cooperation with Russia in the framework of the war in Ukraine.

During a meeting held on the sidelines of the session at the UN General Assembly, Borrell stressed the importance of initiating a de-escalation and finding a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.

In relation to this, he has asked Amirabdolahian to “reconsider” the withdrawal of authorizations from several inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

On the other hand, Borrell has expressed his concern about the “very worrying” situation of Human Rights in Iran just a few days after the anniversary of the death of the young Kurdish-Iranian Mahsa Amini in police custody and after being arrested for not wearing well put on the veil.

Likewise, the High Representative has condemned the “arbitrary” detentions of numerous European Union citizens, including those who have dual nationality in Iran.
