The President of the United States, Joe Biden, will lead a meeting on September 15 with activists, religious leaders, businessmen and those responsible for the security forces to alleviate the effects of racist violence in the country.

The so-called “Summit for Unity” was promoted by social activists after the murders of a dozen black people in a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, in May, the latest in a chain of similar incidents in El Paso, Texas. , Pittsburgh, and Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

According to the White House statement, the intention of the meeting will be to counteract “the corrosive effects of racist violence on democracy” and “underline the Administration’s efforts to promote a shared vision of a more united America.”

During the meeting, Biden will deliver a speech on the intentions and results of the meeting, which will also include bipartisan working groups in an effort to translate the White House’s fight against racist violence into practical legislation.
