At least one soldier has died and two other police officers have been wounded after being involved in an ambush by dissidents of the disappeared FARC guerrilla in the Cauca municipality of Corinto, in southwestern Colombia.
The attack occurred when a group of agents and soldiers carried out a search in the urban area of the Pedro Leon neighborhood to proceed with the arrest of a leader of the ‘Dagoberto Ramos Ortiz’ block of the now dissolved FARC, as has been informed the RCN station.
The agents and soldiers were met with gunfire when they burst into the place, thus starting a shootout that also resulted in the death of one of the objectives of this operation, the leader of this dissident bloc whose name has not been revealed for the moment. .
“The facts are being investigated, what we know is that an operation was being carried out between the Army and the Police, when they met an armed group and the confrontation took place. We do not know if there are civilians injured,” explained the secretary of Government of Corinth, Leonardo Rivera.

A day earlier, it was also learned of the death of another soldier in a municipality in Antioquia, northern Colombia, on that occasion due to a confrontation with the Clan del Golfo drug-terrorist group.
