At least eight people have died and ten have been injured due to the explosion of a bomb placed inside a car in the Afghan city of Mazari Sharif, located in the province of Balkh, in the north of the country.
Around 7:00 am (local time) a bus carrying workers from a company was the target of a car bomb explosion, leaving at least eight dead and ten injured, according to the Afghan news agency AVA.
As detailed to the aforementioned outlet by the head of the Abu Ali Sinai Hospital, Merajuddin Farooqi, the injured have been transferred to the hospital to receive urgent care.
So far it has not been revealed how the explosion took place nor has any individual or group claimed responsibility for the incident.
The explosion takes place after 19 people lost their lives last Wednesday due to an attack on a religious school located in the Afghan town of Aybak, in the province of Samangan (north), according to regional authorities.
