The FC Barcelona striker Ansu Fati, the Valencia defender Hugo Guillamon and the Athletic Club striker Nico Williams are the most outstanding presences among the 26 footballers of the Spanish team summoned by Luis Enrique for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, a list of the that men like Diego Llorente or Borja Iglesias have fallen.
The Barca player, who missed Euro 2020 due to a serious knee injury, will now have the opportunity to make amends in an event in which up to 20 footballers will debut in a World Cup, but in which 17 repeat compared to the last continental tournament, where ‘la Roja’ reached the semifinals.
Leeds United defender Diego Llorente and Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias will not be in Qatar, both included in the September squad, the last one before the World Cup. Neither do men in form like Brais Mendez (Real Sociedad), Iago Aspas (Celta) or Sergio Canales (Real Betis) nor the veteran Sergio Ramos (PSG).
In a list in which all the goalkeepers and midfielders do repeat with respect to that list, Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte enters for Diego Llorente and forwards Dani Olmo (Leipzig) and Ansu Fati (FC Barcelona) for Borja Iglesias.
