An MP from the Socialist Party of Serbia was forced to resign this week after a video of him watching pornography on his mobile phone during a parliament session went viral on social media.
The video shows Zvonimir Stevic watching sexually explicit videos during a tense debate on a possible Serbian agreement with Kosovo, which took place in the Chamber last week.
Kosovo, a former Serbian province, unilaterally declared its independence in 2008, and both territories are under pressure from Western countries to find an agreement that allows them to normalize their relations, which was being discussed at the time the politician was ‘hunted’ .
Stevic, 65 years old and originally from Kosovo, has been a member of the Socialist Party and a deputy since 1996. In 2008 he became Secretary of State for matters related to his native territory, so his total lack of attention during the debate has an added aggravating factor.
The leader of the Serbian Progressive Party, with which the Socialists currently form a government, lashed out at Stevic for “watch a porn movie” during a session that was especially tense on camera.
The Serbian socialist bench asked for Stevic’s head after the video went viral and the deputy was highly criticized by all sectors: “This is a scandal and a disaster. you have to resign. You can no longer continue being a deputy, because you are not up to it. Wherever you appear, whatever you say, you will always be a porn parliamentarian,” said Ivica Dadic, a Serbian socialist leader and current foreign minister.
