A high official of the Somali intelligence services was killed on Thursday in an attack carried out by the terrorist group Al Shabaab in the Gedo region, amid the reinforcement of security operations to end the formation, linked to Al Qaeda.

Official sources quoted by the Somali news portal Garowe Online have indicated that Abdulahi Bakal Kuke, head of the regional intelligence services, died from the explosion of a bomb in his vehicle when he was driving between the cities of Luuq and Dolou.

The event also left five people injured and took place after Kuke played an important role in the fight against Al Shabaab in Gedo. The terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack, without giving further details about it.

The head of the Somali intelligence services, Mahad Salad, has expressed his condolences to the family of Kuke, whom he has described as “a martyr”, while ordering “a serious investigation” into the attack, as highlighted. the agency through its account on the social network Twitter.
