A 28-year-old English man with brain death has woken up when he was going to be disconnected from the machine that kept him alive. James Howard-Jones was the victim of an assault by another young man, Ben Davis, 24, on the night of April 24, 2022 in the city of Cheltenham (England), as reported by the Daily Mail.

The assailant was arrested on May 8 of that same year and sentenced to two years in prison and four months by Judge Martin Picton at the Gloucester Courthouse, after having admitted the assault charges, although alleging unintentionality. Following the assault, Howard-Jones was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was declared unconscious for several weeks, during which he underwent emergency operations several times to keep him alive.
