A 24-year-old firefighter dies in France while putting out a fire caused by the riots

A 24-year-old firefighter, Dorian Damelincourt, has died in Saint-Denis, near Paris, when put out some burning vehiclesin the sixth consecutive night of riots in France, as reported by the French Ministry of the Interior.

“A young corporal of the Paris fire brigade died despite being treated very quickly by his team,” Gérald Darmanin confirmed on Twitter, adding that the incident had taken place in “an underground car park” on rue du Landy at three in the morning.

The young man suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, and although he was quickly treated by his colleagues and by the emergency services, passed away two hours later at the Percy Army Training Hospital in Clamart, as reported by Le Figaro. It has been confirmed that an investigation has been opened to clarify what happened.

The chief of the General Staff of the French Army has lamented the death of the corporal: “I join the pain of his brothers in arms and his family.”

On the night of this Sunday and early Monday morning, other 157 arrested and three officers injured in the street protests, whose perpetrators are justified in the murder of Nahel, a 17-year-old teenager who was fatally shot by a police officer for skipping a traffic control.

Damelincourt’s death joins other tragedies that occurred this week in France, after the outbreak of social conflict. For example, this weekend a group of protesters attacked the house of the mayor of L’Haÿ les Roses, Vincent Jeanbrun, with a car that they blew up, causing the politician’s wife and one of the sons to be hospitalized.
