“I have three wonderful children who have been here with him,” Neal continues, “and they understand his legacy, they understand where they come from, them and their grandfather. My wife has also been here with him, so my family understands the importance of continuing Go ahead. If you don’t keep passing on the story, the horrors of this place… You know, it will happen again.”

Caroline Krager He already participated in the March with his parents, survivors of what happened. On this occasion, and dressed in the jacket that her mother wore then, she has come with her daughter, carrying the message from generation to generation.

“My father has been doing the March of the Living since 2016, and last year was his last year,” Carolina explains. “He passed away in September, but it was very important to my father to carry the message, to make sure the world never forgets, never forgives, and to educate everyone. I am continuing the tradition of marching in his memory and showing him that we will make sure May the world never forget.”

Some 10,000 people from around the world, Jews and non-Jews alike, took part in the March this year, which coincides with the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising. Although the number of Holocaust survivors dwindles year by year, their descendants take up their role in reminding the world of the tragedies that occurred here.
